Here is information about “Tequila” (floribunda rose).
Basic information
The variety is classified as a floribunda rose, which means the flowers are borne in clusters and it is suitable for plantings and flower beds.
Flower colour: Orange.
Height and width: The shrub reaches about 50–70 cm in height and approximately 60 cm in width.
Blooming period: From mid-June until autumn, repeat flowering.
Very good disease resistance, especially to powdery mildew and black spot – this is a good characteristic for Latvia’s climate.
Planting and care recommendations
Location: Plant in a place with good sunlight
Soil: Neutral pH soil (or slightly acidic to neutral) is suitable. Good drainage is important – it does not like prolonged moisture at root level.
Watering: If there is a drier period, water regularly.
Fertilising: For abundant flowering, it is recommended to apply a fertiliser suitable for roses in spring and repeat at the beginning of summer.
Pruning: Prune the shrub in spring — remove damaged and old shoots, and shape the bush properly. This will encourage healthy growth and flower production.
Disease prevention: Although the variety has very good disease resistance, as a preventive measure it is recommended to remove faded flowers and ensure good air circulation between shrubs.
Would it be a good choice for Latvian conditions?
Yes, “Tequila” is suitable for Latvia’s climate. The variety was bred in France, yet it is excellently suited to Latvia’s changeable climate, it winters well and is resistant to diseases.
