Description

‘Great Star’ is an elegant and striking variety of panicle hydrangea (Hydrangea paniculata), distinguished by its large, star-shaped flowers and refined appearance. It is a popular choice for gardens and landscaping thanks to its unique flower form and long blooming period. It blooms with large white flower clusters made up of star-shaped florets, giving a light and airy effect. At the beginning of flowering, the blooms are pure white, but as the season progresses they may take on a slight greenish tint. The leaves are dark green, oval-shaped, forming a beautiful backdrop for the showy flowers. This hydrangea can reach 2–3 metres in height with a similar spread, making it an impressive plant in the garden. This variety is well suited to training as a standard form. ‘Great Star’ grows well in sunny positions or partial shade. In full shade, flowering may be less abundant. It prefers well-drained, slightly acidic soil rich in organic matter. Regular watering is important, especially on hot days. The soil should be kept evenly moist, but not waterlogged. To encourage abundant flowering and healthy growth, hydrangeas are best pruned in early spring. Great Star’ blooms from early summer to early autumn, providing a long blooming period that adds elegance to the garden for several months.
