General information
This rose is offered under the names “Pink Eden Rose®”, “Pretty in Pink Eden®”, and also in connection with the Pierre de Ronsard (the classic “Eden Rose”) variety.
It is a climbing or semi-climbing rose variety – a climber or shrub rose.
Flowers: large, bowl-shaped, with many petals (~70–80) and deep pink in colour (filled with pink tones and a silvery or lighter reverse) – suitable as a decorative element for walls, arches and fences.
Growing conditions and size
Height: about 2–3 m, width ~1.5 m.
Flower diameter: about 11–13 cm according to one description.
Blooms repeatedly – flowers throughout the season (e.g. May to October), depending on climatic conditions.
Light requirements: best in full sun to partial shade; well-drained, moderately moist soil.
Good air circulation is recommended to reduce the risk of disease (for example, black spot and powdery mildew).
Care and maintenance – recommendations
Winter protection: If frost or dampness occurs in the climate, it is advisable to protect the root zone.
Pruning: For the climbing form – keep the main stems, prune side shoots after flowering; if it has become weak, renew the older stems.
Possible challenges and characteristics
Although the variety is described as having high disease resistance, one description mentions “average rain resistance” – in particularly wet climates the flowers may be more sensitive.
Is it suitable for Latvia?
In Latvian climatic conditions, the following should be taken into account: winter frost, spring thaws, and moisture. A variety with high disease resistance and a climbing habit can be a good solution if proper planting, winter protection and a site with well-drained soil and sufficient sunlight (at least several hours a day) are provided.
Recommendation: choose a place where water does not stand for long periods, allow the plant to establish well in the first season, and take care of winter covering.
