Basic information rosen-tantau.com/en/kaffe-fassett-rose
This is a rose variety called “Kaffe Fassett” (English: Kaffe Fassett Rose®).
It was bred in Germany by Rosen Tantau (Tantau) and introduced around 2017–2018.
The name was given in honour of the British-American textile artist Kafe Fassett, who is known for his use of colour and pattern.
Characteristics
Flower colour: pink with a lilac overtone/purple-violet tint; the colour may change as flowering progresses.
Flower size: about 8–10 cm in diameter.
Flower form: very double, with more than 40 petals.
Fragrance: strong, with a citrus or lime aroma; mango and fruity notes are also sometimes mentioned.
Type and habit: floribunda; height approximately 50–80 cm and width ~60–80 cm.
Blooming: repeat-flowering during the season, with the best effect in a sunny position.
Performance: Plant descriptions mention that the variety tolerates comparatively unfavourable weather conditions well and is suitable for containers and flower beds.
Growing & care tips
Choose a spot in full sun or at least partial sun so that flowering is abundant and the colour remains intense.
The soil should be well drained and not overly wet.
Pruning: in spring, before sap flow begins, remove damaged or weak branches.
Fertiliser: feed regularly with rose fertiliser according to the growing period.
Winter protection: If winters are severe in your region, it is advisable to provide a light protective covering or mulch around the base of the plant – although the variety is described as reasonably hardy, protection does no harm under harsher conditions.
Water: provide even moisture, especially during drier periods.
Suitability in Latvia
This variety is suitable, as the summer is sufficiently long and sunny; however, winters can sometimes be severe, so careful winter protection is worthwhile. If the soil is well drained and the site is sunny, the variety “Kaffe Fassett” can be a beautiful and decorative choice.
